Abstract

Field evaluation of new-generation insecticides against grape thrips on cv. Bangalore Blue was conducted during 2025 at Budigere (Devanahalli taluk) and Konaghatta (Doddaballapur taluk). Among the insecticides tested, broflanilide 30 SC exhibited the highest efficacy, resulting in the greatest reduction in thrips population and the lowest berry damage. Spinetoram 11.70 SC and spinosad 45 SC were also highly effective and provided significantly better control than the untreated check, whereas fluxametamide 10 EC and dimpropyridaz 120 g/L SL showed moderate efficacy. Economic analysis revealed that broflanilide 30 SC recorded the highest incremental cost-benefit ratio (ICBR) of 25.22, followed by spinosad 45 SC (17.32). The results indicate that broflanilide 30 SC is a promising option for the effective and economical management of grape thrips in Bangalore Blue vineyards.
