Abstract

Dahlia rosea Cav. has been reported as new host for the quarantine thrips, Thrips parvispinus (Karny). The occurrence of this invasive pest on an ornamental plant which is export oriented raise serious threats and is an apprehension for quarantine authorities. It is imperative that the quarantine mechanisms within the country need to be strengthened so as to prevent the spread of this invasive thrips from Karnataka to other parts of India.
